Christine D. Johnson, Managing Editor, Print
Christine ("Chris") Johnson is managing editor, print and works primarily on the magazines Charisma Leader and Christian Retailing. She also is a content development editor of Charisma. She previously worked in Christian radio and overseas missions. After earning her master's in journalism at Regent University, she joined Charisma Media in 2000.
Shawn A. Akers, Content Development Editor
Shawn Akers, content development editor, joined the Charisma team in June 2012, fulfilling a dream to use his talents for the Lord. He started his journalism career at 15 and worked at several small newspapers as a sports writer and editor. He worked in the NASCAR industry for the sanctioning body and its sister company, International Speedway Corporation, for 16 years. Shawn has been utilized in several roles at Charisma Media, including online managing editor and managing editor of Ministry Today. He achieved another lifelong goal by earning his journalism degree in 2014 from Ashford University. His passions include his family—wife Patty of 20 years and children Rachel and Joshua—St. Louis Cardinals' baseball and Alabama football.
J. Lee Grady, Contributing Editor
J. Lee Grady, is contributing editor for Charisma. He was the magazine's editor for 11 years. He has been involved in Christian journalism since 1981 and has faced a monthly deadline ever since. A native of Atlanta, he has been with Charisma since 1992, serving as news editor, managing editor and then becoming editor in 1999. He and his wife, Deborah, have four daughters. Lee has won three first-place reporting awards from the Evangelical Press Association, and his monthly column in Charisma, "Fire in My Bones," has won awards from the Florida Magazine Association. Also an author, Lee's book 10 Lies the Church Tells Women, published in 2000, opened a unique door for him to preach internationally. He has since traveled to 12 nations, challenging the church to release women in ministry and to end abuse and gender discrimination. In his spare time Lee is trying to learn to speak Spanish.
