Christine ("Chris") Johnson is managing editor, print, of Charisma and SpiritLed Woman and editor of Ministry Today and Christian Retailing. She earned her master's degree in journalism from Regent University and a certificate of biblical studies at Columbia Biblical Seminary. Before joining Charisma Media in 2000, she worked in Christian radio and missions.
Shawn A. Akers, Content Development Editor
Shawn Akers, content development editor, joined the Charisma team in June 2012, fulfilling a dream to use his talents for the Lord. He started his journalism career at 15 and worked at several small newspapers as a sports writer and editor. He worked in the NASCAR industry for the sanctioning body and its sister company, International Speedway Corporation, for 16 years. Shawn has been utilized in several roles at Charisma, including Online Managing Editor for three years and Managing Editor of Ministry Today magazine for 14 months. He achieved another lifelong goal by earning his journalism degree in 2014, from Ashford University. His passions include his family—wife Patty of 20 years and children Rachel and Joshua—St. Louis Cardinals' baseball and Alabama football.
Taylor Berglund, Content Development Editor
Taylor Berglund is content development editor for Charisma Media. He joined the company in 2015 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He hosts several podcasts on the Charisma Podcast Network. He is the primary contact for inquiries regarding video stories on charismamag.com and the Inspire and Empower sections of Charisma magazine.
Jenny Rose Curtis, Assistant Online Editor
Jenny Rose Curtis is assistant online editor of Charisma Media's print and online magazines as well as co-host of the Charisma News podcast. She joined Charisma Media in 2014 after graduating summa cum laude from Stetson University with degrees in Spanish and Communication & Media Studies. As much as she loves academic study, though, some of Jenny Rose's greatest passions include worshipping Jesus, mentoring young women in her church's youth group and making people laugh.
Marti Pieper, Copy Editor/Assistant Online Editor
Marti Pieper, copy editor/assistant online editor, has a passion to read, write, and pray that makes her life an adventure. Her involvement in a prayer project led her to assist Brent and Deanna Higgins as they told their son's compelling story. The resulting memoir, I Would Die for You: One Student's Story of Passion, Service, and Faith became a young adult best-seller that is now a missions classic. She has served as collaborative writer or editor on multiple nonfiction book projects.
J. Lee Grady, Contributing Editor
J. Lee Grady, is contributing editor for Charisma. He was the magazine's editor for 11 years. He has been involved in Christian journalism since 1981 and has faced a monthly deadline ever since. A native of Atlanta, he has been with Charisma since 1992, serving as news editor, managing editor and then becoming editor in 1999. He and his wife, Deborah, have four daughters. Lee has won three first-place reporting awards from the Evangelical Press Association, and his monthly column in Charisma, "Fire in My Bones," has won awards from the Florida Magazine Association. Also an author, Lee's book 10 Lies the Church Tells Women, published in 2000, opened a unique door for him to preach internationally. He has since traveled to 12 nations, challenging the church to release women in ministry and to end abuse and gender discrimination. In his spare time Lee is trying to learn to speak Spanish.
