Psalm 11:1-7 The Scriptures are full of the blessings that come to those who live righteously. There are many promises in the Word like, "The fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." Other passages say that righteousness exalts cities and nations. Sodom would have been spared if God had found ten righteous men residing there. Without righteous men, our nation also would not exist. It is because there are still righteous people left in this nation that the United States has not experienced the full measure of God's judgment. The righteous can do much, but when the foundations are destroyed, the righteous are unable to do much to save a nation, city or family.
Today's reading says, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (v. 3). Our founding fathers established this nation upon godly principles that are now forbidden in our state school systems. You have heard it said, "As the family goes, so goes a nation." We are faced with a great threat in this nation because the foundations of family life are beginning to crumble. The government is researching what makes a family unit when the Bible clearly defines the family unit. There is still hope for this nation, however, because many righteous men and women are praying and fasting for this nation.
I have a friend who is a great prayer warrior. She is confined to a wheelchair, but she travels the world to pray for the foundations of nations. She goes wherever the Lord leads her to go, and usually shortly after her visits to these nations dramatic changes take place in the government and the church in those nations. She desired greatly to go to Mongolia to pray for that nation, but she could not physically go there because she learned they had no wheelchair provisions in hotels, etc. This did not stop her from going to Mongolia through her prayers, and her prayers availed much. I was just at a meeting where a Mongolian told of the awakening occurring in Mongolia. My friend specifically prays that the foundations of these nations would remain in place and not be destroyed so the righteous will be able to do the work needed in these last days.
Even though you might not be able to travel the world as my friend has, your prayers for your own neighborhood, city, state and nation will avail much. Perhaps you would like to join me today in praying for the foundations to be secured so the righteous can continue their work in this last great harvest.
Lord, I pray for the foundations of our nation not to be destroyed. Restore the family and turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the fathers so a curse will not come upon us. Return our nation to the godly principles it was founded upon.
