"Does anybody really care?" Do you hear it? That's the cry of the lost soul—and it's all around us. "Will someone please help me?" "Can anyone tell me that life is worth living?" "Please love me and accept me just the way I am!"

Rarely do we hear the cry spoken. But we see it in the depths of the eyes of the mother living next door who is wondering if her husband will come home tonight. It is painted across the face of the child who woke up this morning not knowing if there will be food on the table. It echoes in the silence of the young 17-year-old on her way to the clinic to abort her second child. read more

Peter is 9. His mother and teacher are concerned that he is not achieving at his grade level. Last year he was doing so well at school he was placed in a class for gifted children.

Everyone at his school believes Peter is a child of superior ability. They are puzzled about why his academic work has deteriorated over the last six or eight months. Even Peter can't figure it out. He knows he is smart, so why isn't he doing better? read more

In March I boarded a 747 bound for the Middle East, and what I discovered there was indeed a dream come true—and more. When I crossed the threshold of Jerusalem, God placed in me a passion for Israel and compassion for the people He calls the "apple of His eye."

I crisscrossed the country and saw everything from Old City Jaffa, where the Bible says Peter raised Tabitha from the dead, to the site of the Holy Sepulcher, where Jesus was buried for three days before He got up from the grave with all power in His hands. You would have had to have been there to feel what I felt as I relived thousands of years of biblical history. read more

What a solemn thought, that our love for God will be measured by our everyday contact with men and the love it displays; and that our love for God will be found to be a delusion except as its truth is proved in standing the test of daily life with our fellow men!

It is even so with our humility. It is easy to think we humble ourselves before God, but humility toward men will be the only sufficient proof that our humility before God is real—that humility has taken up residence in us and become our very nature—that we actually, like Christ, have made ourselves of no reputation. When in the presence of God lowliness of heart has become not a posture in which we pray to Him but the very spirit of our life, it will manifest itself in all our bearing toward others. read more
