God at the Office

Christ is marshaling an army of professional women to advance His kingdom in the corporate world.

Someone once said, "People of vision see the invisible, hear the inaudible, think the unthinkable, believe the incredible and do the impossible." No one better exemplifies this adage than Christian women in the marketplace.

These visionary women are discovering their call from God to affect every arena of life. They are setting high standards of integrity and morality in their places of work. They are using their spiritual gifts and anointing, which have traditionally found expression only within the walls of a church, to bring success and favor in the secular world. read more

God Wants You to Be Helpless

When I lived in the nation's capital, I used to notice how often the Washington papers reported suicide leaps from the Calvert Street Bridge. This happens so repeatedly that the site is often called "Suicide Bridge."

Sensing the human drama behind these brief notices, I often thought there was probably a common denominator in all these tragedies. Each person must have felt helpless.

And I have thought, If I could speak with such persons at the zero hour, I would try to stop them with the thought that helplessness is one of the greatest assets a human being can have. read more

Stuck in Your Circumstances

While we're in the middle of a difficult situation, sometimes the last thing we want to do is praise the Lord. Beth Moore explains how we need to change our attitudes so we can praise God and ask for His help.

Keeping the Sabbath

So God's rest is there for people to enter.
—Hebrews 4:6, NLT

Let's explore a biblical principle God set in motion at the close of creation week—the principle of Sabbath. It's so important that the violation of it in Old Testament times meant certain death.

I'm not going to suggest that we change the day of our religious activities to Saturday. Nor do I propose that we ban all Sunday activities. I simply want to introduce a concept that is valid, relevant and necessary in our contemporary society—the Sabbath rest. read more

Surrender and Walk in Freedom

Everyone has struggles. But God's power will free us when we give ourselves to Him.

I took the old shoebox from my closet and looked through the tattered love letters James had written to me during his first year of college. It occurred to me that they were 20-year-old letters.

A lot had happened in 20 years.

We’d become a family of five. The James Robison Evangelistic Association had grown to its peak in outreach. Many respected spiritual leaders described James as the most dynamic and gifted preacher of our day. read more

Find Your Way To The Secret Place

EVEN THOUGH EVERY MOMENT SEEMS FILLED WITH RESPONSIBILITIES, GOD CAN WOO YOU INTO HIS PRESENCE.

I love that the gospel is so simple and real. God loves us so much! It's as though He has purposed to leave us love notes everywhere. Wherever we open our hearts to see and hear Him, He is there.

If we learn to listen, we will hear His voice calling each one of us. But how do we find our way to the secret place where God abides? read more

His Word Revealed in Us

Our lives will become a demostration of God's glory when we begin to walk in his truth.

The Bible declares that the whole earth is filled with the glory of God (see Num. 14:21). When the people of God reflect who Christ is, we manifest His glorious presence before the world.

God's glory is here. But we will need to open our spiritual eyes in the midst of the darkness around us in the earth, in order to see and know that this is true. read more

Trusting in God Gives Us Hope

God's sovereignty is so great; He gives us peace and hope in even the darkest times. No matter how difficult things get, we always have hope in Jesus Christ. In her powerful testimony, Georgia Shaffer explains how she relied on God while battling cancer and raising her son.

Breaking the Alabaster Box

Anyone who serves God will discover sooner or later that the great hindrance to his work is not others but himself. He will discover that his outward man and his inward man are not in harmony, for both are tending toward opposite directions.

He will also sense the inability of his outward man to submit to the Spirit's control, thus rendering him incapable of obeying God's highest commands. He will quickly detect that the greatest difficulty lies in his outward man, for it hinders him from using his spirit. read more

Revival Begins With You!

Have you ever wondered why there are so many professing Christians in America, yet so few cities that have been truly transformed for Christ? Why, in prayer meetings and conferences, we passionately cry out for nations to be saved in a day; yet our local spheres of influence remain largely unchanged year after year?

The answer can be found by examining the historical seeds of past revivals. For example, legend has it that Jonathan Edwards, before the birthing of the Great Awakening, made a covenant with God. Standing on a riverbank, he cried out to God for revival in the land. Drawing a circle in the sand, he pledged that before God could take the city, the region, the nation, He must start here—and he pointed to the circle. Then Edwards stepped into the circle.

For a community, a city or a nation to be gripped with revival, a man or woman must first be fully gripped by God. Personal visitation is always the catalyst for revival. Visitation always precedes transformation. In order to shake the nations for God, we must first let God shake US! read more

Laying Hold of Your Purpose in Prayer

THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO FULFILL ALL YOUR DESTINY—TO TAP INTO THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH PRAYER.

Do you ever have times when your life seems out of control? Do you ever feel pressured and fear you are missing out on a certain quality of life because your days are so busy?

Do you worry that you are neglecting one or more areas of your life because you are trying to fill numerous roles and meet endless expectations? I've experienced that too.

Have you ever felt as if you are stuck in one place and are going nowhere? Or worse yet, have you ever felt as if you are going backward? read more

God Didn't Put You on the Sidelines

THE CHURCH HAS NOT ALWAYS RECOGNIZED THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS OF WOMEN. BUT GOD HAS FASHIONED THEM TO BE KEY PLAYERS IN HIS KINGDOM.

Let's imagine for a moment what the world would be like without women. All the wonderful traits women are capable of providing with exuberance—gentleness, nurture, care, refined beauty—would be missing.

Men possess these same qualities but in smaller supply; women, on the other hand, overflow with them. Without women the world would look like an army base where everything's painted white or gray and designed for efficiency at the expense of beauty. An awful sense of incompleteness would permeate the planet. read more

Exceed Your Expectations!

WHY SETTLE FOR ORDINARY? EXTRAORDINARY IS WITHIN YOUR REACH.

When my husband and I went out to dinner recently, we were served by an extremely helpful waitress. This woman seemed to anticipate our every need; she even suggested an item that was not on the menu.

Throughout the evening, she served us with both joy and efficiency. She made our evening so pleasant that the next time we went to that restaurant, we requested her as our waitress. read more

Becoming One With God

GOD'S GOAL FOR EVERY BELIEVER IS ONENESS WITH HIM. TO REACH IT, WE MUST TAKE ON THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST.

All the dealings God has with the soul of the believer are to bring it into oneness with Himself, that the final prayer Jesus prayed before He died may be fulfilled: "That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us....I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me" (John 17:21-23, NKJV).

This divine union was the glorious purpose in the heart of God for His people before the foundation of the world. It was accomplished in the death of Christ. It has been made known by the Scriptures. It is realized as an actual experience by many of God's dear children. read more

Go and Sin No More

GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY CAN COVER US AND EMPOWER US TO CHANGE, EVEN WHEN WE'VE BLOWN IT BADLY.

At this very moment, an ancient battle continues to wage between Satan the enemy of our souls, and the daughters of Eve. Since the Garden of Eden, this enemy has been unrelenting in his attempts to shame, strip and dishonor women in order to challenge God's work in their lives.

Sadly, his most vicious offensives are often launched under the guise of religion. Nowhere in the Bible is this more evident than in the story of the woman caught in adultery. This account, found in John 8:1-12, is an incredible and telling example of the cruelty of law and religion as well as the beauty of God's mercy and love.

I'm sure you are already familiar with this story. But I invite you to look at it again in a fresh light by imagining that you were there. read more

When You Pray, Believe

When Jesus was on Earth, He made an incredible promise to His disciples regarding prayer that is recorded in Mark 11:24: “‘Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them’” (NKJV). This promise of answer to prayer is one of the most wonderful in all Scripture. But in how many hearts has it raised the question: However can I attain the faith that knows it receives all it asks?

It is this question our Lord would answer today. Before He gave that wonderful promise to His disciples, He spoke another word, in which He points out where the faith in the answer to prayer originates and ever finds its strength:

“‘Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever...does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says’” (v. 23). “Have faith in God.” This word precedes the other, “Have faith in the promise of an answer to prayer.”

The power to believe a promise depends entirely on faith in the promiser. Trust in the person begets trust in his word. read more

River

Return to the River

If you were once in the river of God but have gotten out, you can go back. Here's how.

Stephen Thompson played defensive tackle for the New York Jets during the heyday of Joe Namath. He even has a Super Bowl ring and flashes it occasionally if someone tries to intimidate him. But tackling the problem of staying in the river of God—the current flow of His Spirit— proved to be an even greater challenge than tackling football superstars.

After his days as a pro football player Stephen and his wife, Starla, entered the ministry. He became pastor of a church near Seattle in the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, a Pentecostal denomination founded by Aimee Semple McPherson, the famous woman evangelist of the early 1900s. The denomination's Pentecostal roots, however, did not seem to prepare the members of Stephen's church for the current move of the Spirit. read more

Let Us Bow Before Him

If we are to see the church strengthened and the nation healed, we must learn how to approach the throne of God in humble, reverent worship.

America is in a time of crisis. During the last several decades, more and more people have turned away from God, no longer wanting to hear what He has to say about their lives and circumstances. The result has been a frightening moral decline that threatens to destroy our country from the inside out.

Since the September 11 terrorist attacks, however, many ears have begun to open again. Fearful and uncertain about the future, many people are more willing than ever to listen to what God, through His church, has to say about the evil that has befallen our nation.

What a profound opportunity we have to see this nation turn back to God and to bring in a great harvest of souls! If we will cooperate with Him, God will turn the present evil to good and use it for His glory. read more

Taking Jesus to the Marketplace

Everyday we pass up opportunities to reveal Jesus to others. But with a little creativity we can seize those moments for eternity.

One of the last things Jesus said to the disciples was, "'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature'" (Mark 16:15, NKJV). This Scripture applies to His followers today as well, but it doesn't mean we all have to leave our jobs and homes and go into full-time ministry. It simply means we are to act as Jesus acted.

Jesus deposited His life in us, the church. Now we are commissioned to do just what He did--and He gave us the power and authority to do it. He said, "'I give you the authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you'" (Luke 10:19).

The problem is that we often put limits on God. We acquire wrong mind-sets about the ways in which He works--or the ways in which He will work through us. We need to ask Him to remove the mental "box" that limits our faith and to help us believe that the same Spirit who was in Jesus is in us, making it possible for us to operate in the same types of ministry He did. read more
