During her college days, Kay Coles James learned to take a stand for what she believes. Her convictions have made her a leader in american politics.

Kay Coles James believes that, as women, we can have it all--though not necessarily at the same time. Kay is a model for women to emulate, having given up a senior position in the private sector to become a mother and, later, an adviser to U.S. presidents.

Kay has been married to the love of her life, Charles, for 28 years. They have three children: two sons, Charles and Robert, and a middle daughter, Elizabeth, who was married recently. Her engagement prompted Kay to write a third book, titled What I Wish I'd Known Before I Got Married (Multnomah Publishers), which followed her autobiography, Never Forget, and Transforming America: From the Inside Out, both from Zondervan. read more

For years, my husband, Jerry, and I traveled as evangelists for the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). I've been blessed beyond measure, and I've seen God perform many miracles.

For 40 years I carried around a tumor in my abdomen. Although my doctors tried to persuade me to have surgery to remove it, I was praying and hoping that the Lord would dissolve it from my body. But God decided to heal me in His own way and His own time, for His glory.

On April 10, 2001, I was in great pain. I went into the hospital the next day, and the doctors scheduled me for surgery. read more

In 1956, when I was 7 years old, I wanted to become a Brownie (Girl Scout) like my best friend. But money was tight. My dad had to work two jobs, and my mother worked at night.

Having gone without during the Great Depression, my parents didn't want to deny me anything. But when I asked if I could join the Brownie group, my mother said, "You are in too many activities already. Neither one of us can afford one more involvement." Undaunted, I begged, "May I join if I come up with the money myself?"

My mom went over the list of supplies and clothing I would need. She added up the cost of uniforms, blouses, socks, a beret, a sweater, shoes, a coat, a handbook, pins, badges, books and a year of dues. She was hoping I'd be discouraged by the grand total of $49, but I wasn't. read more

The other boy asked, "What do you want, a brother or a sister?"

When she followed the Lord to law school at age 50, Barbara Weller could not have imagined the role she was being prepared to play in the history of the American legal system.

Attorney Barbara Weller isn't one for making big plans. In fact, the 65-year-old pastor's wife and grandmother says, "I just want to do whatever God wants me to. I really have no plans of my own. I wake up every morning and say, 'Okay, what's on the docket for today?'"

Although she knows to some this sounds strange, it's always been her approach. And so far, it's served her well. read more

Spiritual practices among soldiers in combat require an unconventional approach. But Christian military women find unique ways to make their faith known.

Cpl. Jodi Rund is blonde, fresh-faced and not hard to imagine as a campus head-turner. In fact, not too many months ago that is exactly what she was. Back then she was studying sociology at the University of Illinois. It seems a lifetime ago, in the sunny days before her National Guard unit was called up.

Now she finds herself stationed at Camp Seitz in Iraq with the 1544th Transportation Company. Her job is to protect convoys that traverse some of the most dangerous roads in the world; and she does it well. One of the men in her company described her as "Osama bin Laden's worst nightmare: a pretty woman who prays to Jesus and fights as well as any man." read more
