The Ingredients of the Anointing

OLD TESTAMENT PRIESTS WERE CONSECRATED TO GOD THROUGH THE USE OF SPECIAL OILS. TODAY, WE MUST BE SURE WE DON'T MIX THE WRONG ELEMENTS WHEN WE SEEK TO CARRY HIS ANNOINTING.

Throughout my teen-age years, my aunt owned a catering business. She was known particularly for her ability to bake wonderful cakes--as beautiful as they were delicious. These weren't your everyday oven fare made from butter, eggs, sugar and flour. These were anointed cakes, and they included a secret ingredient.

I remember one occasion when her daughter asked her to bake a huge cake for a friend's baby shower. My mother and I and several others were in the dining room when she was putting the cake together.

The Power of Your Words

WE HAVE THE ABILITY EITHER TO BLESS OR TO CURSE.

Your words are powerful! They can carry the creative power of God or the destructive power of the devil. They can encourage or discourage, heal or hurt, build up or tear down. Depending on whether you speak a blessing or a curse over your family, the words you speak will produce either good or harmful results.

Most people readily accept the concept of blessings as valid or biblical, but they are either skeptical about, or refuse to believe, that curses can be passed on as easily. In most cultures, a curse is viewed as something a witch, warlock or practitioner of voodoo would conjure up and place on someone. In truth, a curse can come from such sources. read more

Moving Beyond Survival to Revival

THE CHURCH MAY BE TEMPTED TO LANGUISH IN A SURVIVAL MODE DURING HER FINEST HOUR. BUT IS THE TIME TO DREAM BIG DREAMS FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

Today the church is enjoying prosperity and, in many cases, great progress. We are receiving daily reports of the move of the Holy Spirit throughout the world. Yet at the same time, many believers seem to be increasingly dissatisfied; they know there has to be more.

I see them in prayer lines along with other war-weary soldiers. Some of them have fought one battle after another and seemingly have little to show for their battles except scars. read more

The Secret of Fruitfulness

THE ABUNDANT LIFE JESUS PROMISED CAN BE YOURS BECAUSE THE SAME SPIRIT WHO RAISED HIM FROM THE GRAVE DWELLS INSIDE YOU.

Do you know that the enemy has a plan for your life? He does! The Bible tells us, "'The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy'" (John 10:10, NKJV).

In other words, Satan doesn't come to your door unless he intends to do you harm. You will become his victim if you are ignorant of his plan. read more

Who Is This Holy Spirit?

The Scriptures describe the Holy Spirit as possessing all the essential characteristics of God. He is no more and no less than God Himself.

We live in an age when many have become familiar with the words, "Come, Holy Spirit." Yet I wonder if we really are aware of what we are asking for. Too often we have been content to view the Holy Spirit as just a useful adjunct to our lives.

Yet, He must never be reduced to that level. For He came as God Himself to be the love of God on fire dwelling within us and the wisdom of God available to guide us into all truth (see John 16:13). As such, He is the supreme Counselor available anywhere in this world today. read more

Receiving The Power Of The Spirit

INTIMACY WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL IGNITE YOUR MINISTRY AND CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER.

At the start of the 20th century, Wales was known for its music and entertainment, its independent spirit and its rich sports heritage, but something was terribly wrong. The bars flourished while the powerless and passionless churches dried up.

Gambling and greed were beginning to dominate virtually every activity and captivate the nation's middle class. Violent crimes increased so quickly that there were not enough police officers in the entire country to restore order. read more

The Witness of the Spirit

THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN US BEARS WITNESS TO THE TRUTH. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WE LEARN TO DISCERN IT BY LISTENING TO HIM.

If you've ever read any written accounts of true revivals in past ages, you know about the powerful ways in which God moved upon the people, both inside and outside the church. But you may not be aware that when these powerful manifestations of God took place, many other things--things that were not of God--came in also. Strong fleshly shows and demonic take-offs tried to discredit the move. Without the discernment present to separate the precious from the vile, there was a kind of chaos.

When the power of God descends upon a group of people, there is always a form of disorder because God disrupts our religious programs, traditions and customs. But if there is no discernment among the people, particularly the leaders of the movement, the disorder may have a different origin. It is crucial that we rely on the Holy Spirit within us to bear witness to the truth. read more
