Stay on the Rock

E-mail Print PDF

Be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress. —Psalm 31:2-3

My wife and I made a covenant with God when we married that d-i-v-o-r-c-e would never be mentioned in our home. For us, it is simply not an option. When you marry you not only forsake all others, but you forsake your right to be right. Divorce is a product of a home ruled by selfish wants and desires and is a satanic tactic to overthrow the throne of God.

Turn off television programs depicting adultery and marital strife. If you don't, these spirits will invade your mind and, subsequently, your home. "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7).

Fill your home with the presence of God. Speak words of unity and love to one another. Paul said that we should in honor prefer one another above ourselves. (Romans 12:10). Prefer your mate's needs and desires above your own. Center your relationship around Christ. Build it on a sure foundation. Marriages built on the Rock never go "on the rocks."

Show your spouse today your love. Express your love and appreciation. Find little ways to show Your love. And most of all, pray today with your spouse.

Father, together we come to You as one
in Christ, praying together and sharing
together as One. Keep us as
one in You. Amen.
