We Need a Challenge

It is getting harder and harder for college students to find churches that reflect the needs of our generation. We want churches that welcome us with open arms. We want churches that will challenge us to go out and do missions in our neighborhoods and communities. We want to express ourselves. We want to hear truth. We want a place to ask questions. We want to be mentored. And we want to serve.

Because the college generation thrives on innovation, churches stuck in tradition and practice neglect us. We want fresh worship and challenging messages. We need sermons that stimulate our intellect while challenging us to accept God’s call on our lives.

Many churches see our generation as a “lost cause.” But I believe that though young, we are the “generation of those who seek Him” (Psalms 24:6). We do not want the church to dismiss us simply because of inexperience and differences, but to embrace us and speak into our lives because we are the future pastors, missionaries, worship leaders and Sunday school teachers. Affirm our identity as children of God and our ability to offer our gifts in the mission to affect this world for Christ.
