With its economic, political and social influence, the church today has the potential to be the strongest force on this planet. However, I fear that it has suffered from a lack of passion and new ideas to pursue the very mission of Jesus—to seek and save the lost. College students and other young Christians across this planet want to experience Jesus in new and exciting ways, they want to worship God through more than just hymns, and they want to reach out to a hurting world with more than just potlucks. They know that the message of Jesus is not a safe one of 401Ks and pension plans. They have new visions about evangelism and new ways of thinking about apologetics—and they have the passion to see them through. What this generation needs more than anything else is not more doubt and discouragement from their Christian family, but for the church to believe in them and encourage them. A union of today’s church with tomorrow’s generation can radically change this world for Jesus.
