We Crave Real Christianity

I was exposed to the Holy Spirit at a young age. As a child I had the chance to
witness the gifts of the Spirit in operation. I vividly remember seeing healings, prophecies
and many salvations take place. As I grew in my faith, something
inside of me craved more than sermons and good music.
As a 21-year-old college student I now understand what that
craving was. The deepest cry of my heart was intertwined with
the cry of my Savior’s heart, and that was to grow in the fruit of
the Spirit, not just the gifts. I wanted to reach out to the poor, to
care for widows, to extend the loving hands of Christ to people
outside the church building.
Today’s church must focus more on outreach instead of
expecting the world to come under the shadows of our steeples.
On campus I am constantly surrounded by zombies. I walk to class with a broken heart
many days because of the sin that is producing death in the lives of my peers. Who will
rescue them and pull them out of the fire?
If we truly believe the only thing that can give life is the gospel of Jesus, then why
are we so stingy with the message of God’s mercy and grace? When Jesus takes His
rightful place on the throne of our hearts, His kingdom will come with power. The
college campuses in this nation will no longer be spiritual graveyards but rivers of life
that will flow through this nation into every sector of our society.
