A Prophetic Call to Pray

Like many other intercessors, Cindy Jacobs, co-founder of Generals International, was at TheCall Detroit last weekend. As the solemn assembly gathered, Jacobs released a prophetic word for the United States and Israel. Here is what the Holy Spirit spoke to Jacobs on 11-11-11:

For the Lord says the United States is fast approaching her "tipping point." I am ready, says God, to reach out and balance but even if tremendous prayer is poured out, it will only steady the nation for a season unless there is a heart-felt turning back to the Lord. read more

Let Us Answer the Call in Detroit

On 11-11-11, Veterans Day, God is summoning His prayer warriors to battle at Ford Field in Detroit to war spiritually for the next generation. The occasion: TheCall Detroit, a gathering that is not about us, not about those who will assemble there—but about a great healing God wants to do in Detroit and in America.

Detroit, in so many ways, is a microcosm of America's dilemma, and God's desire is to bring healing to Detroit and turn America around. This city, rich with the history of black and white working together in the 1860s on the last stop to freedom of the Underground Railroad, is also the same city where riots broke out over racial tensions in 1967. read more

The Next Move of God

One of the biggest dangers Christians face is thinking inside the proverbial religious box. When we talk about “a great move of God” or “revival” we often contextualize it inside a church building. We get visions of people coming to a facility, worshipping God, hearing a fiery evangelist and flooding the altar for prayer.

Even when we take it “to the streets” it still looks a lot like it does inside the church walls. We speak to people using the same language and pray for them just like we do in church, except that the setting has changed. read more

When Becoming Nothing Is an Improvement

In the beginning, the earth was formless and void, but that did not deter the Almighty. He looked into the fathomless depth of its darkness and concluded, "All it needs is light!" Likewise, in the beginning of our spiritual lives, we also are "formless and void" and God, just as confidently, is still saying, "All they need is a little light!" Remember: it's the Lord's responsibility to create and our responsibility to submit to His creating.

The Lord only needs three things to fashion life. First, He needs a "nothing." The Almighty always begins His great, creative works with a nothing (and this is where we come in!). read more

I Have a Dream

The last few days I have been waking up thinking about Martin Luther King Jr. I kept hearing his "I Have a Dream" speech as I awoke each of the last few mornings. He is one of my heroes of the faith; a difference-maker, and a catalyst for good and for the generations. I asked the Lord if there was some further meaning to my thoughts about him. He said, "I gave him a dream, and I have given you a dream."

I decided to write out my dream in honor of one of my hero's dreams. Thank you, Lord, for Dr. King, who stood for You, stood for freedom and gave his life for the cause of that freedom. I write this in honor of him and the legacy he left for us all: read more

Amnesty and the Cross

Amnesty. It means an official pardon for the guilty offender for actions against a government. It’s an acquittal, a "not guilty" verdict, but even more—it's a pardon for offenses committed. We don’t often think of amnesty when we think of the cross. But that’s exactly what happened. The government of God acquitted us, pardoned us. It’s God’s ultimate solution for guilt. A few days ago the Holy Spirit brought before me a face familiar in the current news cycle. I had not followed the trial of a young American by Italian courts. Snippets I heard were too devastating for everyone on every side. read more

Yom Kippur: A Call to Prophetic Prayer and Redemption

Editor's Note: Yom Kippur starts this week, at sundown on Friday, Oct. 7. It concludes at nightfall on Oct. 8.

The Word of God is clear that when the Jewish people return to God, the purposes of God will be fulfilled. Messiah will return, the kingdom will come, and riches, blessings and new life will come to the world (Romans 11). The Word of God is also clear that the Jewish people will return to God at the end of the age (Hosea 3).

Thus, every end-time believer must set as a priority the redemption of the Jewish people. The Lord appointed one day above all others for the return, the reconciliation and the redemption of the Jewish people: Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. read more

Why You (Still) Can't Buy a Spiritual Breakthrough

A newspaper reporter called me the other day to solicit my opinion on an elderly woman’s so-called “divinely inspired concoctions.” Her little shop of mystic wonderments peddles oils, herbs, sprays and candles that claim to bring love into your life, and even get others to obey your every command. As the reporter described the woman’s mixtures, supposedly potent enough to solve any problem known to man, I couldn’t help but see mental images of the apostle Paul wrestling the beast at Ephesus. But I digress … . read more

Pray Now for the Peace of Israel

At this moment on the international stage, a drama over the security of Israel is unfolding in New York City, the results of which could play a prophetic role in world affairs for generations to come.

The eyes of the world are on New York as many nations gather for the Durban III conference, where world leaders are there to address the U.N. in support of Palestinian statehood.

President Obama acknowledged yesterday what Israel has been saying for months.  In an interview with Prime Minister Netanyahu he said, “Peace cannot be imposed on the parties.  It is going to have to be negotiated.” read more

How Has America Changed Since 9/11?

Sept. 11, 2001, was a day that changed America forever. Who among us will ever forget the image of those blazing, crumbling towers? Who could forget the gruesome sight of those who jumped to their deaths from the 110-story towers or the images of ash-covered New Yorkers in the streets? Or the days and weeks of sorrow that followed as the death toll climbed during search-and-rescue efforts?

But has America really changed since that day? Or have we too quickly forgetten and gone back to business as usual? read more
